Biographical History
Rena Abigail Kennedy Searles (1947-2013) was a captain in the United States Air Force and an English teacher in Washington state.
Rena Abigail Kennedy was born February 8, 1947 in Painesville, Ohio to James E. and Theda Kirk Kennedy. She graduated from the Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, earning a bachelor's of science degree in education. She was commissioned an officer in the United States Air Force, where she achieved the rank of captain while serving in Cape Cod, occupied Berlin, and eastern Washington. In 1976, she married DeWitt Richard Searles III. Upon completing her military service, she earned a master of education degree from Eastern Washington University and taught middle school English in Spokane, Washington for thirty years. She died on July 3, 2013 in Spokane, Washington.
