Richard Mucci papers
Scope and Contents
Collection contains Richard Mucci's personal papers, band orchestration scores that he has collected, and slides of high school band tours. The collection also contains VHS tapes with many recordings of different bands and a few of the bands that Richard Mucci's conducted spanning the dates (circa) 1959-1993. Other miscellaneous materials included in the collection are plaques and awards in recognition of Mucci as well as his diploma from the University of Miami and a conductor's baton given to Mucci from the Nova Concert Band.

Biographical History
Richard V. Mucci (1939-2005) taught for thirty-three years for the elementary, middle, high school, and college levels. He collected a very large amount of recordings and materials during that time.
Richard pursued a career in music education through the University of Miami and majored in Music Education with a minor in trumpet. While there, he was the first chair trumpet in the University band, "Band of the Hour," and was president of the student chapter of the American Musicological Society and the student chapter of MENC. After graduating the University of Miami with honors, he was accepted at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and studied with Roger Voisan and Frederic Fennell while there.
He directed several public school band programs including Wauchula, Dade City, and Palm Beach County, as well as a community band program in the Buckhannon area.
His professional experience includes chairmanship of the Florida Music Textbook Committee, President of the Palm Beach Country Honors Band, and Life Member of the Florida Bandmasters Association.
He was sixty-five when he passed away in his home in Buckhannon.
