Administrative History
The Mosida Fruit Lands Company was created in 1909 for the purpose of acquiring and selling land in Mosida, Utah.
Months after the Mosida land purchase by three men, a group of promoters from Denver, Colarado purchased the holdings of the three owners. The new promoters of Mosida organized two corporations: the Mosida Fruit Lands Company and the Mosida Irrigation Company. The primary reason as to why the Mosida Fruit Land Company was organized was for the purpose of acquiring and selling land. The initial incorporation of the company occurred in August of 1909; L. B. Curtis, C.A. Lawson, H.C. Allen, F.D. Parker and E.A. Wedgewood were all listed as incorporators; however, the majority of the shares in the company were held by C.A. Lawson and H.C. Allen. In 1912 the Mosida Fruit Lands Company constructed a hotel and in the fall of the same year built a school, a post office, and a general store. The fall of Mosida began in April 1913 when the infamous Mosida boat was completely destroyed by fire. The Mosida companies continued to function and do business until 1915; however, the company was in severe debt, which grew through to 1916 when H.C. Allen was taken to court by residents of Mosida for being unable to supply water for the irrigation of crops. The Mosida dream diminished over the next few years, staying alive until 1919.
