Scope and Contents
Materials include a twenty-four page letter written by Katherine Nagasawa Ishimoto to a "Dearest Cassie." Ishimoto discusses her conversion to and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with detailing her Church community. She tells about her family, the family business, her goals in religious worship and education, and current events, including her life in Hawaii as a Japanese citizen during World War II. Dated November 1945.

Biographical History
Katherine Nagasawa Ishimoto (1925- ) was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of LAtter-day Saint and a housekeeper.
Katherine Nagasawa Ishimoto was born on March 21, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Hikohichi Nagasawa and Misu Yasuhiko Nagasawa. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 18, 1941. She married James Kazuo Ishimoto on February 16, 1949 in the Laie Temple.
Ishimoto worked in her family's Holo Holo Slipper Factory, and later worked as a housekeeper. Her husband served in the Japanese-American 100th Infantry Battalion during the Second World War. After his return, he worked for the US Postal Service. Later, Ishimoto and her husband served an LDS mission in Tokyo, Japan at the Tokyo Temple.
Ishimoto had three children: Hilton Seki, Hazel Misue, and Grace Chiemi. Her husband died on January 9, 2001 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She now lives in California with her daughter, Grace.
