Biographical History
Theodore James Thaxton Jr. (b. 1937) is a civil engineer in Utah.
Thaxton was born on September 6, 1937 in Chandler, Arizona. His mother was Thelma Ann Armstrong Thaxton, and his father was Theodore James Thaxton. The family relocated to Salt Lake City in the spring of 1939. Theodore (Ted) was the oldest of four children, the others being: Darryl Lynn, Virgene Lavinia, and Gailyn Brent Thaxton. Ted graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. In October of 1959, Ted departed on a full-time mission for the LDS Church in the Western States Mission. Upon arrival home from his mission, Ted entered the U.S. Army and completed six months of training for the Utah National Guard. On June 21, 1961 Ted married Edythe Lorraine Cracroft in the Salt Lake Temple. Ted and Edyth had seven children together while married. After serving ten months of full-time military service from October 1961-August 1962, Ted attended the University of Utah where in 1966 he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Ted went on to later earn a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Edyth Lorraine Cracroft Thaxton died on February 28, 2005. Ted married Sharon Lynn Edwards Smith in the Mount Timpanogas Temple, American Fork, Utah.
