Biographical History
Elaine Brockbank Evans (1905- ) was a Latter-Day Saint sculptor who made a life size sculpture of Adam and Eve to aid the Latter-day Saint missionary effort.
Elaine Brockbank Evans was born on 22 May 1905 in Holladay, Utah. Growing up, she took art lessons until 1923 when she took a sculpture class at the University of Oregon. She has a deep appreciation for art and used her talent to bless the lives of her family and church. She was married to Jack Evans in 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple by President McKay. She received her Master of Fine Arts degreee at the University of Michigan. For the World's Fair in New York in 1965 she made a life size sculpture of Adam and Eve for the Mormon Pavilion as a missionary aid. Several casts have been made from the original; one of these is in the Visitors Center in Salt Lake City. One of her plaques "Christ Blessing the Little Children" was placed in the Oakland Temple.
