Scope and Contents note
File contains photocopies of Thomas Jackson Schofield's handwritten diary, his patriarchal blessing, the patriarchal blessing of his wife, Martha, and the typescript of his diary. Schofield described his life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, wrote of his conversion in England, and about his life in Nephi, Utah from 1859 to 1860. He included in his diary his duties on his farm including watering and irrigating his garden, plowing, harrowing, and working on the public ditch.

Biographical/Historical note
Thomas Jackson Schofield was born in Lancashire, England in 1824 and later converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prompting him to move to Utah. He married Martha Whitworth in England in 1849 and Sarah Foster in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1857. Schofield became a farmer in Utah until his death in 1893.
