Organizational History
Salt Lake City was originally known as the Great Salt Lake City. The city was founded in 1847 by a group of Mormon pioneers led by their prophet, Brigham Young, who fled hostility and violence in the midwest. It is also the headquarters for the Mormon Church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
