Scope and Contents

This collection contains one copy of Timothy O'Sullivan's photograph of his supply wagon in the Carson Desert, Nevada, reproduced in commemoration of the Beinecke Library 25th anniversary in 1988. The photograph was originally taken in 1867 while O'Sullivan was part of the United States Geological Explorations of the Fortieth Parallel.

Timothy O'Sullivan was an early Western photographer. He served with Clarence King on the United States Geological Explorations of the Fortieth Parallel in 1867.
