Biographical / Historical
Born in Shaftesbury, Vermont, son of Nathan Robinson and Mary Brown. Family data; spiritual manifestations prior to and directly following his conversion to Mormonism, 1836, New York; vision of a temple to be built in Jackson County, Missouri; conversion to Mormonism of his wife, 1839; move to Nauvoo, Illinois, 1841; teachings of Joseph Smith on adultery and polygamy; lengthy discussion and personal testimony of the divinity of polygamy; spiritual manifestations and healings; preparations for departure from Nauvoo; exodus west; call of the Mormon Battalion; return to aid the poor to leave Nauvoo; journey to Council Bluffs, Iowa; journey across the plains; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1848; temporary settlement at the mouth of North Canyon; call to serve as bishop of the North Cottonwood Ward, 1849; preservation of crops from the crickets by the seagulls; pioneer life in the Salt Lake Valley; settlement of Little Salt Lake Valley (Parowan), 1850, and Filmore, Utah, 1851; the reformation of 1856; death of Jedediah M Grant; family data concerning his plural wives and children; journey into southeast Idaho, 1885; incidents of healing.
