Interview of Carl Joseph Christensen by Lucille Merrill McDonald on February 10, 1985. 3 cassette tapes and 55 page typescript draft. Carl Joseph Christensen discusses his Danish ancestors, growing up on a farm in Provo, the early death of his father, family illnesses including Christensen’s recovery from peritonitis, working on a neighbor’s farm, his talent singing bass and his invitation to join the Provo Tabernacle Choir, singing in a quartet, his BYU chemistry education, teaching chemistry, working as the head of the physics department for the University of Utah, being president of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers and his radiation research. His BYU biographical record, a Christmas card and a 1975 Voice of the Pioneers brochure are also in the collection.

Biographical History

Carl Joseph Christiansen was born on April 3, 1901 in Provo, Utah. He was a BYU graduate, a physics professor and a bass singer. He married Rhea Alberta Huish on September 3, 1924. His children were Mary Ellen, Roberta Mae, Carl Huish and James Huish. He passed away on June 24, 1995.
