Scope and Contents

Typewritten copy of a translation into English of Neilsen's diary. The original is in Danish. The item was translated by Neilsen's son, Christian Emil Neilsen. Rasmus writes about his migration to the United States and about the death of his wife. Rasmus died on 25 March 1854. Also included is an autobiography of Christian Emil Neilsen. Christian writes about encounters with Indians, his migration to Utah, where he worked, and his experiences in the Mormon Church. The spelling of the family name is a variation of the name Nielsen.
