Scope and Contents note
Original handwritten journal of Abner Tanner. He is serving a mission in the Southern States. Tanner includes some poetry by Jacob Bowers[ ], written for Tanner’s farewell. He begins his mission in Tennessee. Tanner holds street meetings in Chatanooga, tracts in Nashville, looks after the sick and dispels false rumors. He finds some who are interested in the Church and puts his cooking talent to good use.

Abner Tanner was born in Utah in the late 19th century. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the southern United States from 1906 to 1907.
