Administrative History

The United Order movement was aimed to protect Mormon communities from poverty. Fillmore, Utah was under the Order for a brief time.

The United Order movement in Utah was a system of economic co-operatives formed under the direction of Brigham Young among Latter-day Saint communities beginning in 1874. It aimed to eliminate poverty and protect Mormon communities from the consequences of depending upon outside resources for survival. The Orders only survived a few years in each community, and by the 20th century were nonexistent. Fillmore, Utah operated briefly under an Order. The town was settled in the early 1850's.
