Biographical History
In 1861, Brigham Young sent a small party to explore Uintah County for settlement. It wasn't chosen for settlement at this time, and later became a gathering place for American Indian settlements. Eventually the area began to attract farmers and became a county, with the town of Vernal as its county seat.
