William Waddoups biography and meeting record book
Scope and Contents
Materials include a thirty-two page booklet containing a typed biography of William Waddoups, a biography of his wife Elizabeth, and speeches, prayers and songs from William Waddoups’ funeral. Also includes a red hardback meeting record book used when Waddoups made visits to several wards near Lewiston, Utah, likely while serving as a counselor in the Benson Stake Presidency. Dated 1909-1931.
Transcriptions of both items are also included.

Biographical History
William Waddoups (1840-1931) was one of the first settlers in Lewiston, Utah, a farmer, and polygamist.
William Waddoups was born August 19, 1840 in Sowe, Warrickshire, England to Thomas Waddoups and Elizabeth Porter Waddoups. His mother joined the Mormon Church when he was a young boy. He served in the Crimean War in the English army. He came to America when he was twenty-one, during the American Civil War, and traveled to Utah. While in Utah, he met Brigham Young, Martin Harris, and others.
Waddoups married Martha Page on November 27, 1864 and Eliza J. Stephenson on November 29, 1883. He moved to Lewiston, Utah and was one of its first settlers in 1874. He served as counselor in the Benson Stake Presidency from 1905-1921. William Waddoups passed away on November 14, 1931 in Lewiston, Utah.
