Biographical / Historical
Claudius V. Spencer (1824-1910) was a Mormon politician, lay leader, and missionary. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain between 1850 and 1853.

Journal was purchased by George W. Clark in the 1920s or 1930s. It was inherited by his son, Gerald W. Clark, who sold it through a book dealer to the L. Tom Perry Special Collections.
