Biographical / Historical
James Holt Haslam (1825-1913) was a Mormon pioneer and blacksmith. He was also the express rider dispatched to Brigham Young for instructions in the days before the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre.

Photocopy of the affidavit was given to the donor's father by a member of the Haslam family in 1963, and remained in the donor's possession until the time of donation.
