Biographical / Historical
William Knox was born 5 July 1815 in Spittal, Northumberland, England, to Peter and Dorothy Knox. He married Elizabeth Tweddle on 1 August 1842 in England and then later Catharine Tarne on 27 February 1857 in Salt Lake. He was a preacher in England until he was converted to the church. He left in 1848 on the ship the "Hartley" and landed in New Orleans. His family traveled to St. Louis. He worked hard there trying to get the funds to leave for Salt Lake. Apostle Erastus Snow told him the Lord would provide and to trust that. He did and He did provide. He died 22 February 1891 in Salt Lake City.
