Biographical History
Parley Pratt Nelson was born February 17, 1875 to Peter Nielsen (Larsen) and Bollette Petronelle Svendsen in Monroe, Sevier, Utah. While a student at Brigham Young Academy, he participated in the Cluff Expedition to South America from April-August 1900. Not long after the expedition, he served a mission in Southern California (August 1900-Apri1 1902). He died September 12, 1946.
Parley Pratt Nelson (Nielsen) was born February 17, 1875 to Peter Nielsen (Larsen) and Bollette Petronelle Svendsen in Monroe, Sevier, Utah. He was the fourth child of eight in his family. During the first few years of his life, he moved around Utah quite a few times. His family did not have a lot of money. His father eventually became a farmer and was better able to provide for his family.
Parley had the opportunity to participate in the Benjamin Cluff Brigham Young Academy Expedition, beginning April 1900 and continuing until August 1900. He then reported for his mission to Southern California on August 29, 1900. He was released from his mission on April 14, 1902, after news of his mother's failing health. He returned to his home on April 18, four days after his mother's death.
On July 23, 1902, Parley married his sweetheart, Sarah Ahlstrom, in the Manti Temple. They had six children together. Not much of Parley's life is known except for he died on September 12, 1946 in Rexburg, Madison, Idaho.
