General Note

Two-part letter from Phelps, Carson Valley, Nevada, dated July 7, 1853, to his family. Item includes a letter to "Mother and Father" (William Wines and Sally Phelps) in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. States that he is doubtful that he will return this fall. Opposite side has a letter from Phelps to his sisters Lydia and Albina. He states that he has just heard from Thomas P. Williams; tells them to direct their letters to Sacramento, California.
