A portion of a letter to Sally Phelps, written in the hand of William Wines Phelps, dated September 11, 1835. Phelps asks Sally not to go to Jerusha (her mother) while he is away, because, according to section 19 of the Book of Commandments, she "must not go by water," and going by land would be too hard for her; revising hymns for the hymn book; "nothing has been doing in the translation of the Egyptian Record for a long time;" asks her to write good letters so that "every body can read them;" says of her letters that "Bro. Joseph thinks much of them."
