Secretaries of Zane Grey were in a Navajo hogan while staying with Louisa Wetherill in Kayenta, Arizona, while Zane Grey and Al Doyle explored the area.

Young women who traveled with Zane Grey were often lumped under the term "secretaries."

Note on verso: Interior of our Indian hogan. Built of mud and woven logs and door facing East. Setting Sun- strange beliefs of Indians. Navaho blankets serving as wall and buck-rum covering the alcove part. Opening at top covered with canvas. Elena, Polly, Myself, and Lillian.
