Letter from David Heilner to Sigmund Heilner. Family problems arise in this year in many areas of the Heilner family's lives. Retta is already having problems in her marriage. The old Jewish dowry system is a plague to poor families. Mathilde, Regina and Feifer's other daughter, never does follow her heart to America and actually is killed in the Holocaust many years later. Dated February 3, 1886. Includes a translation of the letter.
