Letter from Sigmund Heilner to Clara Heilner. This letter is especially touching in the fact that Jesse's eye operation and treatment did not work. He never did regain sight in his operated eye. These 1885 letters demonstrate the lack of medical knowledge of the time. Both Jesse, from blindness and Sanford, for an unnecessary operation, suffered the rest of their lives from incorrect and, as yet, unknown medical treatment. Dated August 11, 1885.
