J. E. Talmage private journal, Volume 7, 1893-1894
Scope and Contents
Handwritten journal includes nearly daily entries from March 8, 1893 to July 22, 1894. Begins in Salt Lake City, Utah, and ends with Talmage in London, England. Near the beginning of the journal is a three-page entry on the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple, which occurred on April 6, 1893. Also includes his election as President of the University of Utah and Professor of Geology in April 1894. In May 1894, Talmage was asked to travel to Europe and attend a meeting of the Royal Microscopical Society in London, the Museums' Association in Dublin, and to visit Berlin, Germany. Dated 1893-1894.

Originals restricted. Digital copy of the first twelve of thirty volumes of Talmage's personal journals (1879-1911) available online. Unedited typescripts and microfilm of all thirty volumes also available.
Conditions Governing Use
The literary rights to the Talmage collection rest with the Harold B. Lee Library and the Talmage family. Permission to publish material from the James E. Talmage collection must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services at specialcollections@byu.edu.
