Scope and Contents

Submitted by BYU student Kathleen Lubeck for her Spring 1970 English 391 class. About graveyard epitaphs from the southern Utah county and Juab county and the insight they give into individuals and culture. Contains a cover essay, map of graveyards, and the epitaphs collected. Epitaphs include infant's graves and the peace of the families, "Budded on earth to bloom in heaven", flower imagery, life after death beliefs, children's deaths being a step to God or Christ, longing for a child, death as a resolution, "Sleep on sweet babe and take thy rest, God called thee home and thought it best", children being too gentle for earth, imagery of sleep, acceptance, adult and elderly people's epitaphs, and more.
