Scope and Contents note
Materials contain a brief summary of Eldon Foote Lewis's experiences in the military. Includes a description of his duties as a medic in Europe, for which service he was awarded the Bronze Star. Collection also includes Lewis's membership card in the National World War II Memorial Society. Also contains a photocopied newspaper article, with an accompanying picture, detailing the atrocities committed by retreating German troops at Gardelegen. Includes two commendations from Major General Gillem congratulating the XIII Corps on their bravery and skill. Contains eleven photocopied photographs, with an accompanying explanation, and other miscellaneous photographs showing Lewis during training, performing his medic duties, driving in Paris, and with fellow soldiers. Notable among the photographs are those that show American forces meeting their Russian counterparts in Germany. Dated 1941-1945, approximately 2000.
