Three generations of experience : a collection of family birth stories / Julie Greene, 2008
Scope and Contents note
This project is a collection of family birth stories from three generations of the collector's own family. The analysis discusses how the collected worked in a maternity store, but didn't understand pregnancy and birth until she had her own child. Claims that going through the birthing process creates a folk group that shares a common bond. Topics include "don't act like you know, because you don't", female bonding, why we share our stories, a description of the participants in the project, what about men?, drugs or not?, boy or girl?, first time jitters, experienced birthers, and from waiting room to front row seat: the fathers. Includes a collection of 11 items telling birth stories from family members. Collected by Julia Greene, Deirdre Paulsen's ENGL 391 class, Fall 2008.
