Scope and Contents note

This project is a collection of stories and personal experiences of an American family living in several different countries around the world. The project highlights the experience of Burke Adams and his family. The analysis claims that Americans' experience abroad is an important part of the American experience. Gives biographical sketch of Burke Adams, and contains the following topics: Adams' expectations and first impressions of living outside the U.S., American family life abroad, experiencing different cultures, the networks of Americans abroad, and feeling American outside of America. Includes two complete interviews with Burke Adams and his wife, and two documented items about the Burke Adams family from other informants. Collected by Elizabeth Rinker, Dr. Rudy's ENGL 392 class, Fall 2008.
