Scope and Contents note
This is a collection of stories and folklore surrounding "the Festa of the Forquilha." The Festa of the Forquilha is a Brazilian even that takes place in Minas Gerais, a state in southeastern Brazil, to celebrate the patron saint of the area. Stories come from the collector's family members and include versions of the beginning of the festival, drinking guarana, bar fights, food, auctions for the church, and many other folklore items. Most folklore items and interviews originally in Portuguese, with collector's translation. Collected by Sara Boyack, Dr. Paulsen's Honors 303R class, Winter 2005.
