Scope and Contents
Materials contain a letter written by Sammy Tankersley Ipson, detailing her family's interaction with Latter-day Saint servicemen during World War II. She discusses living sixty miles from the Amarillo Air Base in Texas, and how she would often receive visits from the airmen whom their family had befriended. Tells how, with the help of two such servicemen, Sidney Noble and Lowell Maughan, Sammy and her sister Ladell were able to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1945. Also tell how eventually Sammy's mother and another sister, Mary Helen, were baptized as well. Sammy relates the effects that these decisions have made in the lives of the Tankersley family and expresses gratitude for them. Dated May 30, 2000.
