Scope and Contents note

This project explores family rituals that surround bedtime. In the analysis paper, the collector states that the bedtime functions as a ritual that transmits life lessons and family identity. This 15 item collection contains the following experiences: reading to siblings, bedtime blankets, improvised songs with children's names, "Top Eight at Eight" songs before bed, special cups and bottles, audiocassettes at bedtime, special pillowcase, and prayers at bedtime. Collected by Melissa White, Dr. Jacqueline Thursby's ENGL 356 class, Winter 2008.
