Pearson explores the topic of birthday cakes as it relates to familial and social relationships and the perpetuation of traditions, creativity, and uniqueness through generations. She examines different stories about birthday cakes, thereby shedding light on the role different backgrounds and cultures play in birthday cake traditions. Created by Sarah Pearson while enrolled in Kristi Young's English 391 during winter semester 2007 at Brigham Young University.

Privacy restricted until 2077 for interviews titled "Mom's Birthday Cake Traditions," "Dad's Birthday Cake Traditions," "We made 'em from Scratch," and "It would look really cool if we swirled the frosting" due to missing consent forms. Permission for access must be gained by the Supervisor of Reference Services.
