Scope and Contents

Diary written by Oliver Boardman Huntington between 1895 and 1900. Entries describe his work with beekeeping, Church service, temple work, writing and publishing, and a trip to California. Contains reminiscent accounts of Joseph Smith and the early years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the front and back inside covers, as well as between entries, are pasted newspaper clippings, as well as a copy of the program from Wilford Woodruff's 90th birthday. Also includes references to Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith, Sr., John Smith, Heber J. Grant, George A. Smith, Wilford Woodruff, George Q. Cannon, Hyrum Smith, Willard Richards, John Taylor, Brigham Young, Orson F. Whitney, and Kit Carson.

Bound in red and tan, with some black. Gold designs outline the red sections of the cover, while the tan sections have an alternating pattern of diamonds and half-circles. The spine of the book is labeled "Day Book" in gold lettering on a small black square background. The book is labeled "Book 18 O. B. Huntington's Journal." Beginning with page 25, pages numbers continue to page 288. Pages 116-117, 175-287 blank. Pages made of thick, white, blue-lined paper, with red lines at the margins. A number of newspaper clippings have been pasted between pages throughout the journal. Pages 29, 30 blank.
