Handwritten and signed letter, dated 10 Sept. 1895, and addressed to Alice Nelson, perhaps Alice Moore Dunbar-Nelson, an American author. Bates thanks Nelson for a favorable review of her work.
Also included is the envelope in which the letter was sent and a portrait of a women clipped from a magazine. The subject may be Bates.
