Explores Sanders' theory that "acceptance of food equals acceptance of the provider of the food" and that a guest's reception of food influences the way the hosts treats them. Discusses one informant who lived in China for several years, but who chose to serve family recipes instead of Chinese dishes when she wanted to impress guests.
