Poem written first in pencil then written over the pencil in pen. Written on an invitation card so some of the poem is covering the printed part of the invitation. Invitation reads, "Yourself and family are respectfully invited to view Mr. Shattuck's New Picture, The White Hills in October, now on exhibition and to continue for a short time only, at Goupil's Gallery, 772 Broadway. New York, February 15, 1868."
