Scope and Contents

Materials contain three brief memoirs of Alice Lofgren Andrus' time in the U.S. Navy as a nurse. She describes her work in the burn and plastic surgery ward helping the injured men getting transferred to a hospital ship to help care for prisoner-of-war soldiers that had been released from Japanese prison camps. File also contains a brief history of the ship Andrus served on, the U.S.S. Consolation, taken from the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. A few photographs are contained within the memoirs. Dated 1993.
