Biographical note
Rufus L. Baker (b. 1790) was an army officer and business man and the grandfather of Anna Bartlett Dwight.
Rufus Lathrop Baker was born in December 6, 1790 in Brooklyn, Connecticut to Joseph Baker and Lucy Devotion. As a young man he joined the army. Rufus married Eliza Taintor in June of 1818. Rufus was a successful businessman so the family lived very comfortably. Rufus died June 5, 1868 in Windham, Connecticut.
