Scope and Contents note

Materials contain an interview with Hartman Rector Jr. concerning his time serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Describes Rector's training and subsequent recovery from injuries until December of 1945, at which time the war was over. Relates how he was called to active duty with the onset of the Korean War, and was sent to Hawaii for advanced training. Describes his conversion to the Latter-Day Saint faith around this time, including that, when he arrived at Yokuska, Japan, he insisted on being baptized, despite the rule of the mission there that an investigator must wait a year first. Relates how he dealt with the job of a soldier while in Korea. Also talks about his time as a General Authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dated February 21, 2003.
