Scope and Contents note
Materials contain papers relating to the military service of Keith J. Honaker in the U.S. Army from 1941-1963. Describes his service in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in the Vietnam War. Includes an account that describes the conditions under which he served during war time, support from the church and his family, contact with the church during service, and his own spiritual health. Also contains information regarding his service awards, a five page description of the battle in Arawa, New Britain against Japanese troops, a map detailing his company's travels in the Pacific, an affidavit regarding his valorous action in service, his speech at the awards ceremony for the National Guard during the presentation of the Bronze Star Medal, a photocopied news article titled, "Honaker finally receives Bronze Star", photocopied images of him in uniform, with other soldiers, and a list of other awards and decorations he received. Dated 1941-2000.
