Thespian initiation / Diana Ward, 2003 December 11
Scope and Contents note
Ward analyzes the folkloric elements of initiation into her high school thespian society. She deems the initiatory process to be folkloric insofar as it is artistic, traditional, and part of a social act. She concludes by documenting the changes that have occurred in the initiation process since its inception 20 years before, and suggests that hazing lawsuits have tamed the once-raucous process of initiation. Created by Diana Ward when she was enrolled in Eric Eliason's English 391 course in Winter 2003.
