Shirley Elmer Bishop papers, after 1944
Scope and Contents note
Materials contain papers relating to the military service of Shirley Elmer Bishop in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Describes bombing missions he and his crew flew over Japan during World War II. File contains original photographs and one photocopied photograph, Bishop's answers to the Saints at War Questionnaire, an active duty log of Bishop, and a memoir relating Bishop's experiences. A CD included in the file also contains the log and memoir. A floppy disk is also included in the file. Also includes two accounts by Morgan Higham, titled "Bomb Baby Couldn't Swim," and "Almost Alone in a B-29." Dated after 1944.
