Contains Beecher's personal project files on Eliza R. Snow, including her poetry and songs, her Nauvoo Journal and other diaries, photographs and maps from Nauvoo and Utah, an ancestral file, an index to Snow's writings, the administrative history of the Relief Society, and other research materials on Snow. Includes many of Beecher's publications on Snow, most notaby "The Personal Writings of Eliza Roxcy Snow," "Eliza Remembers," "Inadvertent Disclosure: Autobiography in the Poetry of Eliza R. Snow," "Eliza R. Snow's Nauvoo Journal," "Eliza and Her Sisters: Nineteenth Century Mormon Women," "Eliza Enigma: the Life and Legend of Eliza Roxcy Snow," "Eliza and I: the Inner Life of Eliza R. Snow," and "A Secret Something: The Inner Life of Eliza Roxcy Snow", 1975-1994.

Biographical History

Maureen Ursenbach Beecher (born 1935) was an English professor and research historian in Utah.

Maureen Ursenbach Beecher was born March 19, 1935 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Charles Ursenbach and Lucile Harvey. In 1958 she left to serve in the Swiss-Austrian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held the positions of editor and senior research associate of the History Division of the Church from 1972 to 1980. From 1981 to 1997, she served as a research historian for the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Latter-day Saint History as well as an associate professor and professor of English. She retired to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1997.
