Three handwritten and signed letters addressed to Barton Orville Aylesworth (1860-1933), an American author, poet, and professor at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Also included is a published biography and a folder with "John J. A'Becket" written on it. Handwritten and signed letter, dated October 25, 1894, and composed at "The Jansen, 11 Waverly Place, N. Y. City." A'Becket informs Aylesworth that his "communication" had been received and writes that he would be pleased to give any information requested on his life and career. A'Becket also states it is "gratifying" that Aylesworth is interested in his work. Handwritten and signed letter, dated December 7, 1891, and composed at "32 Cockspur St. Charing Cross, London." A'Becket thanks Aylesworth's for "your hearty appreciation of my 'Song of the Comforter.'" He expresses a desire to meet Aylesworth "in the flesh" at some time. Handwritten and signed letter composed at "The Gerard, 123 West 44th Street" on an unspecified date. A'Becket writes a brief autobiography for Aylesworth outlining his life and writing career. A printed biography of A'Becket with a portrait probably cut from a magazine. The internal evidence of the brief biography would indicate the item was probably published sometime in 1895.
