File contain papers relating to the military service of Gareth Seastrand in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The materials include a written history, an article, a letter and photographs. These papers describe his enlistment in the U.S. Navy and his service with company 549 and on the U. S. Acorn 38. Describes his memories of first hearing about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the United States’ decision to get involved. Describes basic training in Farragut, Idaho and relates experiences at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, where injured servicemen were treated. Dated 1946-2004.
