Note on verso: "'Sashy' the baby became Col. Elisha K. Kane WWI and WWII. Born 3/18/1894. Dr. Kane's wife Blanche died so only Zella, Mrs. Elisha K and Viriginia Mrs Dr. Tom. Kane with veil shown here at far left seated on the ground. Dr. Harriet A. Kane died Jan. '96. Shown here on left of baby held in Dr. Evan O'Neill Kane's right arm. Dr. Tom Kane probably has on his father's cap and sword."
