Scope and Contents
Notebook used by Ira P. Hale to record his literary works, including poems, essays, letters, and stories. Also includes a few ledger entries from Amboy, Illinois. Dated from 1830 to 1888, with the bulk from between 1850 and 1870.
A photocopy and digital scan is also included.

Biographical History
Ira P. Hale (b. 1824) was a minister, teacher, and local official in Nevada. He was also the oldest son of David Hale.
Ira P. Hale was born in 1824 in Harmony, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania to parents David Hale and Rhonda Jane Skinner. In 1880, Ira lived in Nevada where he worked as a minister, teacher, and local official.
Hale's death date is currently unknown.
