Materials contain an account of Neal Roy Groom's experiences in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Corregidor during World War II. He discusses his involvement in the retaking of the Marshall Islands and New Hebrides Islands, and actions in New Guinea, Saipan, and the Mariana Islands. Describes his service on an aircraft carrier that was assigned to submarine patrol from the Philippines to the United States. He relates several experiences of having his life spared.
